Edurep stands for ‘Educational Repository Network’ and is a central search engine for digital educational content. Edurep search is based on metadata in accordance with the metadata standard ‘Content Zoekprofiel 1.3’ for learning objects. It is an essential function in the so defined Educational Content Chain.

MDMS stand for Metadata Management System and is a generic component which saves, transforms, provides and manages metadata. It is a component in development by Kennisnet. It´s key function is to transform metadata between different sets of standards. For example , it can transform educational metadata into the standard metadata for educational objects ‘Content Zoekprofiel 1.3’. MDMS uses the MERESCO harvester.
Darenet stands for Digital Academic Repositories Network and offers free access to the national research output of all Dutch universities, some research institutes and the KNAW and NWO. The amount of available scientific objects is over 130.000. DAREnet is an initiative of SURF Foundation and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. MERESCO originates from this project which is, amongst other, special for it’s high availability and high user load.

DAREnet
Lorenet stands for Learning Objects REpository network and is a tool for sharing knowledge within and between schools or universities. Enabling lecturers and students to share and exchange learning resources with one another, it supplies educational material through a network of universities (including universities of professional education). This project is, amongst other, special for it’s rating and tagging by end users. Also, in this project metadata transformations from IMS CP, CZP etc towards IEEE LOM 1.0 have been applied with the use of Meresco Core Crosswalks and Normilzations. Lorenet is an initiative by SURF Foundation.
Lorenet uses the Meresco Harvester and the Meresco Core: Search Engine, SRU Record Update, SRU + CQL.
