The partners involved in the Meresco project are:
SURF
SURF is the collaborative organisation for higher education institutions and research institutes aimed at breakthrough innovations in ICT. SURF provides the foundation for the excellence of higher education and research in the Netherlands and is involved in major ICT-innovations in The Netherlands. One example is DigiD. This digital authentication system used for government services on the Internet is based on SURF’s reliable authentication system, A-Select. The creation of finely-meshed optic networks in a number of cities in the Netherlands is also the result of SURF’s pioneering work. SURF is also a founding member of the Amsterdam Internet Exchange, the most important gateway for international traffic into Europe. SURF collaborates with a number of partners abroad to share knowledge and to profit from advantages of scale. The results that SURF achieves are also guiding examples in an international setting.

SURFnet
SURFnet is a subsidiary of the SURF organisation. SURFnet develops and operates the national SURFnet6 network. It provides innovative services in the areas of security, authentication and authorisation, group communication and video. By using SURFnet, over 750,000 scientists, teachers and students in institutions for higher education and research in the Netherlands have daily access to the Internet and are able to communicate with other network users anywhere in the world, enabling multimedia collaboration. In this way SURFnet establishes the ICT basis for innovation in higher education and research in the Netherlands. Also, SURFnet’s activities are a stimulus for the telecommunications and Internet market in the Netherlands. Through these, the new possibilities have an impact on other sectors and strengthen the Dutch knowledge economy.

Kennisnet
The foundation Kennisnet is a public ICT support organisation established by and for education. Kennisnet manages the interests of the Dutch education sector, offers ICT related knowledge and delivers public educational services and products to renew and innovate education. Knowing that ICT is one of the instruments that can make education as flexible as possible, the challenge for Kennisnet is to provide ICT instruments as the standard tools in the toolbox of every teacher and learner. This will enable them to implement ICT into educational processes for flexible learning anytime and anywhere.

CQ2 is an innovative software specialist in the field of data- and metadata management. By having been active in the field of data- and metadata management for a long time, CQ2 has gained a lot of knowledge which fits in with its competences: Service Providing
(harvesting, mapping, search & retrieve) and Data Providing. CQ2 renders all kinds of services related to those core competences. The possible uses of the software created by CQ2 is enhanced by the fact that we try to use as many Open Standards and protocols as
possible. Among the used Open Standards and protocols are: SRU/SRW, SRU Upload, OAIPMH, SOAP, XML, CQL, RSS, LOM and DC metadata. We provide high standing advice, quick delivery of working software with a warranty, and flexible contracts.
